Philosophy for Children
CoAuthor of Ethics for the Very Young: A Philosophy Curriculum for Early Childhood Education. Rowman & Littlefield (2019). Training available on establishing a program of Philosophy for Children at the preschool level.
Age Matters
For Physicians, pediatric residents, and pediatric medical professionals, this course covers basics of epigenetic theory, the meaning of a developmental milestone, the etiology, incidence and prevalence of age related disorders in young children, and cultural myths about typical development and parenting.
Screen for Success
For all who want to identify children at risk for developmental problems, this training program includes the Ages and Stages Questionnaire & ASQ SE, social “RED FLAGS,” and a 6 step program for establishing screening, surveillance, monitoring and referrals in any population of young children under 5.
Everyday Inclusion
This lively one day training begins by laying a theoretical and practical foundation for including children with disabilities in every early education setting. It proceeds with proven teaching ideas, an introduction to antecedent-behavior-consequence record keeping, video clips, and practice examples. Participants leave with a wealth of visual schedules, mini lesson plans, and other resources.
Amazing Babies
Designed for new parents, this session couples the videotaped assessment of a child with a detailed explanation of the child’s ability to think, see, hear, smell, and learn.
Faith & Family: Coffee Talks
This series of 8 sessions is designed to introduce the basics of parenting research to a faith based audience. Each 1 hour session begins with references to Christian scripture and moral principles, tied in to modern research. Topics include: Is My Baby Alright? Fearfully and Wonderfully Made (temperament), Strict vs. Spoiling, Self-Control, Parent Self Care, Different and Alike, Do unto Others (about racial reconciliation) and Dealing with Tough Topics & Teens.
